A message from the Village of Gilberts, IL:
The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), in conjunction with the Union Pacific Railroad Company (UPRR), is planning to repair the badly deteriorated at-grade railroad crossing on IL 72 (Higgins Road) east of I-90, in the Village of Gilberts, IL, Kane County. IL Route 72 (Higgins Road) will be fully closed to through traffic at the UP Railroad tracks. The closure will begin on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at 9:00 AM and conclude on or before Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at 7:00 AM (Weather Permitting).
The posted vehicle detour route for eastbound traffic on IL 72 is to proceed southeast on Big Timber Road(Co Hwy 21), north on Tyrell Road (Co Hwy 59), back to IL Route 72. The posted vehicle detour route for westbound traffic on IL Route 72 is to proceed south on Tyrell Road (Co Hwy 59), northwest on Big Timber Road (Co Hwy 21), back to IL Route 72.
